School residential to Etretat and its region


Sample itinerary for a 4 night residential trip to "upper" Normandy.

Day 1 - Journey, Baking and and settling in :

Depart your school by coach for Folkestone. Embarkation and Channel crossing. Picnic lunch (not included in the price) on board. Disembarkation in Coquelles. Depart for the bakery to see bread and cakes being made in a traditional French way. Have a go at rolling your own "croissant" and sample a freshly baked “pain au chocolat”. Depart by coach for the residential centre . Room allocation in multi-bedded rooms, fire drill and full board accommodation.

Day 2 - Farm visit and Aquarium :

After breakfast, "farm" activity at the centre. The children discover the farm animals and may have a go at milking the cows. Lunch at the centre. Depart by coach for Dieppe to visit l'ESTRAN, "La Cité de la Mer". Pupils will make a board of sailors' knots. Then, visit of the aquarium. Return to the centre by coach for dinner.

Day 3 - Chocolate, crêpes and Etretat :

Depart the centre by coach for Fécamp to visit the Chocolate Museum and a tasting that nobody would miss! Transfer to Etretat for lunch at the crêperie. Then depart by coach to visit the ‘Clos Lupin - Maison Maurice Leblanc”, also in Etretat, and discover the house of Arsène Lupin’s author. Free time to discover Etretat and its cliffs. Return to the centre by coach for dinner.

Day 4 - French school visit and bee farm :

Depart your residential centre to visit the local primary school and work in partnership with the French children you have been writing to : educational activities. Depart by coach  for Saint Nicolas d'Aliermont to visit 'L'Ermitage des Abeilles"". Picnic lunch on site. Discovery of the life of bees and the use we make of their honey and wax. Each child will make their own candle and taste some of the produce. Free time in the afternoon, under the supervision of the teachers. Return to the centre by coach for dinner.

Day 5 - French market and return journey :

Depart by coach for shopping at the local market with questionnaires. Picnic lunch on site. Then, depart by coach for Coquelles. Embarkation and Channel crossing. Arrival in Folkestone and direct transfer to your home town.
